The Flight

We had to wait around a long time at the airport but finally we got to go across over a thing and into the airplane. Linda, Ken, and me sat in the airplane seat 5. We had to get off the plane (Guadalajara) and show these people our papers then we had to get back on the plane and we flew for half an hour to another airport (Mexico City) and we had to get on another plane. Finally, we got back on a new plane and we flew for quite some time and finally we got to Mexico (Merida).

My favorite thing about the trip is that we got lunch and dinner on the airplane when it was flying. But I didn't eat very much of my dinner. I saw hills, volcanoes, and mountains. I felt like I was stuck to the seat and couldn't pull myself loose when we were taking off.

My Favorite Things about the Hotel

I like the swimming pool. When it's hot people can go swim and relax. I like how the little lizards sneak into the motel in the living room downstairs. It has a bar and out in the middle a fountain and a garden and a path around it and little tables.

The Green-Eyed Jaguar

I saw a sculpture of a jaguar with green eyes, green spots, red body, and yellow teeth and there was a Chac Mool. The tiger was really scary, like it was real, like it was a goddess tiger. The Chac Mool was like a eating god, it eated human flesh. I climbed in the middle of the castle pyramid and underneath it was a little one they built over it and I climbed up these stairs and there it was, the Chac Mool and the Jaguar. On my way back down Mom scared me by saying, "Look down the tunnel!" and it made me feel like I was falling, falling, falling in a mummy box straight down to the ground.

I saw a temple you can see from my motel and we even traveled there. It had a round top and broken at the top and there were stairs going up like a steep hill.

The people were selling statues they've carved and sold jewelry and in the store I saw a beautiful ring. It was pretty. Simply beautiful.

It was a weird day. It was exciting, sad, and wishing.

The Adventure with the Pyramids

Today I woke up and got dressed and we walked out of our hotel and down a trail. We went to this pyramid, Linda, Ken, and I.

We saw writing in the 37 Room and we saw anthills that were shaped like cups. They were like tiny cups about an inch and a half and there were little ants and there were a whole bunch of anthills.

Then we went on a hike and after we got back from our hike I got a doll. She has a skirt with a weird top and black hair with a kind of like a headband that is pink, yellow, and dark green.

We went to this place where they had chips and drinks and I saw a cenote. It's big and round and water down at the bottom and lime rock on the side and water eats away at the lime rock. And one of the girls sold us a handkerchief with a little pink dog and a flower and I got it for a souvenir. And that's the end of my day.

The Trip to the Pyramids

Early this morning we got up, got dressed, and we took off. Then we went to these pyramids and when I got up on this one and looked in, there was little swallows that flew in and flew out. I thought they were neat and they made their house out of mud against the wall inside the doorways and on the inside of the walls. There were two roomfuls of swallows nests, a billion.

Then we got a drink and we headed towards our car and got in and headed to the next one. Then we drove to another one and another one until we got to our last one. We saw iguanas. They were humongous, big, strong, and eated meat. They were black with spines on their back with long tails. They liked to lay in the sun on the rocks.

When we got back we bought some postcards and there was a little boy there doing the stand. My mom bought postcards and he added them up and then he said the cost, sixteen pesos, in Spanish and she gave him twenty pesos and he gave her some change back. Mama asked in Spanish if he wanted his picture taken and if I could, Alana, be in the picture and he said sí, that means yes, then I got in the picture and she said hola and we smiled then we got in the car and drove off and got to the motel and that's the end of my day. I went swimming.

Hacienda Chichen

My favorite thing was the swimming pool. When no one's in the water you can see a slope. I slid down it on my feet and when I got near the bottom near my chin I turned around and started running up the slope. There was edgings on the side. There was like a little sidewalk next to the edge and you could walk along it. You were in the water.

I saw two ladies with bowls of fruit on their heads and behind them was a holder and above them was an angel and the angel was praying. And there was little birds on each post and along came little things that came along to the end of the pole.

The Young Dancers

The kids, boys and girls, had little trays with water glasses on their heads and they stood on stools and tapped their feet up and down.

They had little Mayan dresses on with crosses and long necklaces and their hair was bunned up with flowers. The boys had white hats and white shirts and pants with a red handkerchief in their pants pocket on the right side.

My First Day at Akumal

We got here by a bus. There was a t.v. on the bus and we watched two stupid movies. When we got off we had a short taxi ride here. Then we got a beautiful, fabulous hotel by the sea. There is sand. There is a swimming pool. There is a beach, a sea and tomorrow after my homework I'm going snorkeling where there is sharks, squid, and all kinds of fish.

I got my suit on and I went to the beach and then I went to the swimming pool then back to the sea. I found some beautiful, beautiful coral.

The Trip Underwater

I have a brand new snorkel, my favorite color, and today I used it. It is easy to use. And if you need to blow out the saltwater, you get some air and get a big breath and cover it up at the top and blow out.

I saw a beautiful, humongous parrotfish. It had a green tail with yellow, pink, red, purple, and blue. I saw a sea urchin, an enormous one, and I saw a butterfly fish. I saw a trunkfish, it has small flippers in the back, a long tail, and a long kind of kissing mouth and we saw a yellow jack.

There was brain coral and when it's in the water it has algae green stuff on it and when it washes onshore it's dead and it looks better dead. We saw a bottom of a sunken ship and an anchor. We saw some Spanish galleon canons. It was a fun, glorious day.

Our New Motel with a Surprise

Early this morning I got up from the beach and we packed and got on a ferry and went to an island called Cozumel. I kind of got nervous and they gave out these bags and I puked.

After the ferry we got a taxi and we went to the wrong place then we found out the right place. Then I went swimming. The pool is really weird. It has a volleyball court in the swimming pool, it has an island, and it has cots that are able to go in the real shallow water here. There is a little small square swimming pool and a little round pool for kids and the rest is deep for adults and big kids. It was like a castle swimming pool in the living room.

Then, after I had lunch, I came back in the swimming pool then I got in my bathtub. There was a surprise waiting for me. It was a gelatin. And we dropped it in the water and it spun for a little while then we waited and it turned into an elephant sponge!

The Trip to Isla Mujeres and Back Again Home

I went to Isla Mujeres and it's in Mexico. It's kind of near Cozumel. There was this nice motel we went to and at the motel was this man called Romi and he turned out to become my friend.

And one day I went snorkeling and I went to this place where there was this hard tide, it was like a lagoon was there, and I saw a whole bunch of shells and I wished I could get them and I found a way I could. I would take my snorkel out of my mouth with my head above the water and I'd take a breath of air and dive under to the bottom and grab a shell and come back up and put it in my swimsuit.

And the day I left was very sad. We flew on the plane for a long, long time, all day, and before we got to the motel we saw our friend Tom and on the bus I told my parents I wish we could all, Tom, Sheryl, Lisa, Laura, all of us, go to Mexico all at the same time.

Then we got to the motel and got our van. And the rest of the night we drove home and by the time we got home it was 1:30 in the morning!
